This has to seriously be my favorite psalm right now.
I love how David is coming to God completely exposed and entirely vulnerable. The part I’m camping on is verse 6. “Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.”
It’s so easy to try to display “truth.” These days you can ask anyone how they are doing and typically they will respond with…you guessed it…”good.” Everyone seems to be “busy” and doing “good.” I have fallen for the trap myself. Not saying that no one gets busy it just seems like such a cover up to what is really happening. Inside. The heart. The mind. The soul. It seems so easy to be truthful about the things we want to be truthful about. But when it comes to the deep dark “abyss” inside, we tend to “hide in our cave.” It could be verbal or nonverbal. It could be big things, it could be small things, but the fact is God wants truth to be in our inner parts as well. Our mind. The way we think. The way we dream. What we meditate on. Our heart. Our alone time. God wants truth to reign throughout every aspect of our life. One of my favorite pastors always says “you are who you really are when no one’s looking.”
Who are you?
